Setting health goals and holding yourself accountable
This post is sponsored by, "Always Eat After 7 PM." The opinions expressed below are my own.
Let's talk about goals. At the beginning of every school year I start our writing lesson with goal setting. It is such a great way for kids to take control of their learning and it helps them to build responsibility as well as accountability! If a group of third graders can sit down and plan their goals for the year, so can we as adults.
My goals when adopting the Always Eat After 7PM diet into my health routine was to gain more energy and to just feel healthier overall. I can 100% say that my energy levels have increased, my skin feels more hydrated, I have had zero allergy issues. Now of course not all three of these things are the result of solely just eating better, but they are a result of just maintaining a healthier lifestyle. I have been following Joel Marion's diet while exercising 4-5 times a week for at least 30 minutes, and I have been consistent about taking my vitamins and protein powders throughout the day. I have also made an effort to start my days with a morning run of 2 miles which has also helped to increase my energy and feel accomplished! With all this extra energy I have been able to chase after my two boys without feeling as stressed and overwhelmed. The extra energy has also given me that boost to get back into my on the go lifestyle and do activities with the kids each day! They are happier and so am I!
Now if you have followed along with my posts or have purchased the book for yourself then you know that Joel doesn't suggest having breakfast to start your day (If you haven't read the first two blog posts click here to get filled in post 1 & post 2. Always Eat After 7PM mentions that, “Going without breakfast is part of intermittent fasting (IF), also called time-restricted feeding (TRF). IF is a pattern of food consumption that cycles between fasting and eating in specific time periods. There are various ways to do it; one of the most common is the 16/8 protocol, which involves 16 hours of fasting—typically done overnight—with an 8-hour window in which to eat each day.” When I first read this I honestly thought there was no way I wouldn't be starving, but honestly after the first two days of not eating breakfast (more so just pushing it off till later in the day) I didn't even notice the hunger. Starting my day with lemon water and a nice 2 mile run definitely helps to curve my appetite as well! I also start each morning by reviewing my goals. Writing them on a post-it and placing the post-its on your mirror is a great way to remind you of what you are working towards and helps you to stay positive! I have found that the more I review my goals the harder I work and the greater the results. If you can start your each morning feeling good and being positive you will be amazed at how much better you will feel! A little morning music, the fresh scent of essential oils, and reviewing your goals can go a long way for keeping that positive mentality!
So what are you waiting for? There is no better time than now to start goal setting and to become more consistent about living a healthier life style! Grab a pen and a notebook, write down your goals, and start working to achieve them! You will feel better both inside and out!
One of my favorite recipes is for the Fruit Tarts!
"Fruit tarts are a brilliant combination of Sugar Cookie Crust + Vanilla Custard + Fresh Fruit that is both stunning and tastebud tickling. Like mini fruit pizzas." They are so yummy and super healthy! Fruit tarts are the perfect afternoon snack and great for entertaining!
