Summer is right around the corner and I couldn't be happier! I much rather bask in 115 degree weather than be the slightest bit cold! I am ready to hit the beach and get use of the ridiculous amount of swimsuits I bought last summer!
How do I get beach body ready?
Well, I love eating healthy and working out as much as I can. However, now that I have two kiddos, hitting the gym can be difficult. Sometimes I simply just don't have the time. Not to mention I am constantly on the go. With working full time as an elementary teacher and chauffeuring my kids to all their activities, it can be hard to meal prep or grab a bite to eat. I wanted to find a program that fit my busy lifestyle and would provide me with the nutrition that my body needs.
This spring I have decided to try out Atkins to help me prepare for summer festivities and just live a healthy life. You might have heard of Atkins. It’s a low carb, low sugar approach to nutrition. The way it works is by flipping your metabolism from burning sugar to burning fat. Losing weight is what happens on the outside—on the inside, a low carb diet can reduce your risk of heart disease, help Type 2 diabetics eliminate their need for medication, and improve mental clarity. It’s also a delicious way to eat. Good for the whole you!

I started with Atkins Snack Bars which are a great way to treat yourself without having to worry about the carbs—too many carbs lead to weight gain, inflammation, and all that sugar (both added and naturally occurring, learn more about that here) can feed lots of other kinds of bodily ailments. These snack bars will satisfy in-between meal hunger with 7 or more grams of
protein. They come in 15 delicious flavors, my favorite being the Atkins Protein Wafer Crisps in Peanut Butter, Chocolate Mint, and Lemon Vanilla which are completely free of artificial colors, flavors, and preservatives. I am a peanut butter connoisseur so I am absolutely loving that flavor right now. These bars have been amazing whenever I just need something quick to grab and go or to keep in my desk at work.

I have also been using all the Atkins Shakes. You can purchase the protein powder or pre-made mixed drinks. The protein powder comes in both chocolate and vanilla. I usually start my day with one of these before I head to work. For lunch I have been having one of the pre-made mixed shakes with a Peanut Butter Protein Wafer Crisp shortly after. Before starting the Atkins program I would have hunger cravings ALL DAY, but since adding the shakes and snack bars to my diet, I have noticed a significant loss in cravings. I feel like I have so much more energy to take on the day and I generally just feel good when I wake up!
I have made it a point to set some time aside each evening to cook a low carb meal. The Atkins website has some amazing low carb recipe ideas for meals that are healthy and support a low carb diet. Click the link below to take a look at some yummy meals!
In just a week of following the Atkins low carb diet, my body is feeling wonderful and I feel like I am on the right track to meeting my summer body goals! If you are interested in a low carb diet, I strongly suggest checking out Atkins. The meals, bars, and shakes are delicious, full of protein, and stacked with everything your body needs to look and feel good.
