A Summers Dream in San Diego

Looking for some Summer fun?! San Diego is the place to be!!

San Diego has always been one of my favorite cities to visit, especially since it is just a short five hour drive from Vegas. It is the perfect place for traveling with family, friends, or even those going on a solo adventure! For the purpose of this blog I will be sharing my favorite San Diego spots to adventure to when I get the chance to leave the kids at home and have a little time to myself!

Hostels have always been my jam. Ever since backpacking Europe by myself I have been obsessed with staying in hostels when I travel. I love that they offer the opportunity to meet new people and step out of your comfort zone! I honestly prefer a hostel over a hotel any day!

Back in 2016 a friend and I were headed to San Diego and were looking for a fun place to stay. I stumbled upon The Beach Bungalow and was hooked when I saw that it was literally right on the beach! We had such an incredible time we knew we had to visit again! Fast forward to 4th of July 2020 and we are back!!!!!

The Beach Bungalow is an 18 and up hostel located right on Pacific Beach! I remember the first time I walked into the Beach Bungalow and was immediately flooded with South American meets Central American hostel vibes. Bright colors, friendly staff, relaxing hammocks, incredible music, and just an amazing energy! Not only is the hostel painted in all my favorite colors, it also has such a great set up. When you walk in you are greeted with a large area where guests can eat and hang out, there is a kitchen area for guests to access, and an area to check in. They have a super welcoming patio that overlooks the ocean and is the place to be at all hours of the day. In the early morning you can find people relaxing on the patio, enjoying the sunrise, swinging in hammocks, and getting to know one another. During the afternoon it is the perfect place to hangout with friends, play games, and soak up the sun. In the evenings you can find people enjoying drinks, food, and jamming to music. You can count on the hostel to provide you when plenty of things to keep you busy. They have an assortment of activities planned for each day and have plenty of surf gear to rent if you feel like catching some waves.

The beach Bungalow offers an assortment of rooms including co-ed shared rooms with 4-12 beds, private rooms, and female only dorm rooms.

I strongly suggest staying here if you are visiting the San Diego area. I guarantee you one incredible vacay full of good laughs and some amazing memories! Visit Hostel World or ITH Hostels to book your stay today! Cheers to an adventure you won't forget!

PS I love this place so much we are planning a trip next month!

If you are staying at the Beach Bungalow here are a few spots in walking distance that are an absolute must whenever I visit!

Juice Wave has the BEST SMOOTHIES on the planet. I am honestly not even joking when I say that. The girls at Juice Wave know how to make a good smoothie and they are all packed with healthy + delicious ingredients from local farms! My favorite smoothie is the Tropic Zen and Vitamin Sea! They also have cold pressed juice, almond milks, cold pressed shots, Acai bowls, and coffee! Definitely a must if you are in the Pacific Beach / Mission Bay area!

Hungry for a bomb sandwich and ice cold beer? Board and Brew is where its at! They have an assortment of delicious sandwiches and refreshing beers. They also work with local farmers and purveyors to source the highest quality meats and dairy products delivered fresh daily!! Perfect meal for a beach day!

Is the best breakfast place in San Diego if you ask me! Perfect for those of you waking up super hungry or even hungover. They have the most incredible breakfast burritos and some pretty delicious pancakes! Kono's not only serves breakfast all day, but they also offer a great lunch menu too! We ate here for breakfast everyday we were in SD. It is just a short walk from the Beach Bungalow and the ideal place to grab a bite to eat to enjoy on the beach!

There are so many things to do in the Pacific Beach area. You can rent bikes, surf, longboard, bonfire, play volleyball, go paddle boarding, the list goes on and on. What I suggest is to just go with the flow! Check in to the hostel and see where the weekend takes you! If you feel like surfing go surf! If you would rather just lay on the beach all day soaking up the sun and enjoying good conversations..do it! Be flexible and don't make too many plans! Some of the best trips are the ones that allow for flexibility and spontaneity!

Now these are just a few of my favorite spots, but there are loads of fun bars, restaurants, and places to visit all in walking distance of The Beach Bungalow. The staff at the hostel can also recommend some great places and can totally point you in the right direction to anything your heart desires.

If you are headed to San Diego anytime soon and need any pointers or recommendations be sure to leave a comment or send me a dm on instagram.

I would love to help you have an epic San Diego adventure!
